Would you like to teach for LIR?
If you believe in what we are doing…if you enjoy coming to our classes…then maybe you would be interested in leading a class of your own. It would be one that you created and produced based on passion and knowledge you have for the subject. All you need is information on something interesting, and a desire to share. Also, you should be a curious, friendly, organized person with good verbal skills. Since nobody gets paid at LIR, the only reason for teaching is to have a good time and know you are doing something valuable your co-learners truly appreciate.
At this stage of our lives, isn’t that the best reason for doing something worthwhile? Most of our instructors have told us that teaching for LIR is more enjoyable than they ever expected.
Here are some topics some students have requested:
- Medical doctors discussing conditions likely to affect seniors
- Lawyers discussing criminal and civil cases
- Food stories including ethnic, healthy, quick & easy, and restaurants
- All levels of the Spanish language
The dates for the 2026-27 season are: Fall 11/2-12/11/26, Winter 1/4/27-2/12/27, Spring 2/23/27-4/3/27. All semesters are six weeks. Classes meet once a week for two hours (film classes are longer). The schedule is Monday thru Friday with classes 9:30-11:30am, 12-2pm, and 2:30-4:30pm.
If you have an idea for a new LIR class and would like to lead it, or you know somebody who would be interested, please email Jerry Blatt at jerryblatt.lir@gmail.com.
